Augusta’s Last Straw

Augusta’s Last Straw

Downtown Augusta: This is the #LastStraw. The unnecessary use of straws is directly impacting our city. During our weekly clean-ups, we notice a huge amount of straws that are left on the street and sidewalks that will eventually find their way to our precious waterways.  That’s why we’re inviting you to take part in the #TheLastStraw Campaign during the month of April 2018. We’re doing this not only to reduce our litter in downtown Augusta, but to help reduce the over 500 million single-use plastic straws used in the US every day. That’s 125 school buses full of straws every day going to the landfill!

  1. For the month of April, refrain from automatically placing straws in any customers’ drinks.
  2. If a customer then requests a straw, provide them with a fully compostable one.

*Thanks to a generous donation from Eco-Products, we will be providing compostable straws to committed businesses for the month of April at no charge.

In exchange for committing to this campaign, Operation Clean City will feature you on our social media and website, along with any related print advertisements.
