An Operation Clean City Challenge
Downtown Augusta: This is the Last Straw. The unnecessary use of straws is directly impacting our city. During our weekly clean-ups, we notice a huge amount of straws that are left on the street and sidewalks that will eventually find their way to our precious waterways. That’s why we’re inviting you to take part in the The Last Straw Campaign during the month of April 2018. We’re doing this not only to reduce our litter in downtown Augusta, but to help reduce the over 500 million single-use plastic straws used in the US every day. That’s 125 school buses full of straws every day going to the landfill!
- For the month of April, businesses have accepted the challenge to refrain from automatically placing straws in any customers’ drinks.
- If a customer then requests a straw, the business will provide them with a fully compostable one.
The following restaurants have accepted our challenge!
